Global Finance Services (GFS) is AstraZeneca Finance's financial services division covering Record to Report (including Controlling), Purchase to Pay, Contract to Cash, Performance and Management Reporting and Tax delivered from our in-house and BPO service centres located across the globe. GFS was established to support AstraZeneca's Finance function on a transformation journey with the objective of delivering excellence in financial operations and insight through global simplification and standardization that enable our colleagues focus on AZ's strategic priorities.


Record to Report (R2R) has a clear strategic roadmap to the 2025 vision of seamlessly delivering trusted financial reporting through scalable and sustainable process excellence. GFS R2R plays a fundamental role in the delivery of this R2R strategy.

GFS has two distinct operations - Middle Office (MO) and Back Office (BO).

The R2R MO teams are aligned to the business areas and act as the single point of contact for their respective business area.

The MO is customer aligned, providing controllership support and undertaking activities requiring judgement. The MOs are in three strategic locations - Warsaw (EMEA), San Jose (Americas) and Kuala Lumpur (Asia). The MO works closely with the BO to ensure the financial results are robust and processes are well controlled.

The R2R BO delivers the standard, repeatable, transactional activities and is aligned to a process tower structure, ensuring process excellence is delivered whilst driving productivity through process efficiency and automation.

The BO is delivered via both a BPO outsource provider and through an in-house shared service centre.


The successful role holder will play a pivotal role in supporting the successful delivery of BAU service and process improvement for the Americas region in R2R.

The role holder will be accountable ensuring an effective operating model between the Back and Middle offices, driving a continuous improvement agenda that optimises the value of the shared service for the process.

A key part of the role will include working closely with key stakeholders in the market finance teams, including the regional and market CFOs and Controllers, as well as the central Group Finance teams.


The role holder will also be accountable for managing the operational relationship with our BPO outsourcing partner Genpact who deliver the service to 12 markets for the Americas region, including the US hub, primarily from their delivery centres in India and Brazil.

This will include ensuring key metrics are utilised to drive performance and drive a culture of continuous improvement and focusing upon the quality of service being delivered.

In addition, the role holder will use deep insight into the R2R processes to provide process expertise to identify and execute key opportunities for process standardisation within the region as well as driving an agenda that optimises the value of the shared service centres for the process.


The finance area must respond quickly to change within the business and the role holder will be required to proactively support the delivery centres to respond at speed through proactive engagement and effective communication, working through key changes with the relevant stakeholders.


Typical Accountabilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Being the primary contact for R2R in the region with the ability to work across the key contacts in the Back and Middle office to drive process standardisation, improvement, and service delivery.
  • Managing relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Manage the Service of Genpact (BPO provider) for the region.
  • Ensuring the quality of the overall R2R service delivered from Genpact to the AZ region through the effective use of key metrics and reporting. Approval and sign off of key outcomebased performance indicators, improvement plans and aligning with contract teams as appropriate.
  • Support the R2R global service and performance management processes from the Americas point of view, developing and implementing a robust R2R governance model including standard performance indicators to feed into the R2R global performance management processes.
  • Facilitate resolution of operational blockers between Genpact and AZ teams which limit the ability of GFS to deliver to agreed SLA's
  • Working in collaboration with the R2R Operational Excellence leads across the other regions to deliver a consistent R2R customer
