This role coordinates the logistics and customs operation processes across all relevant product categories.

The Logistic Operations Coordinator is responsible to ensure smooth logistics operations by leading the relationship with the 3/4PLs carrying out logistics services for PMI, through close monitoring of their performance & managing all relations between them and PMI stakeholders.

The logistic operations coordinator is also responsible to contribute and support any productivity initiatives relating to logistics and customs operations in accordance with our global D40 program, follows up on any operational changes they may incur.

Collaborates with all stakeholders to deliver superior logistics performance.

Your 'day to day'

  • Logistics and Customs Operations Co-Ordination & Process ownership. Ensure all Customs and Logistics operations in the given region/scope/flow are coordinated efficiently between affiliates, 3PLs and any other stakeholder relevant to process. Lead the standardization and optimization of the processes related to Customs in view of new flows, commodities and/or sources, constantly striving to ensure smooth overall operational effectiveness. Own the operational processes and to act as an expert on such processes.
  • Performance monitoring of service delivery from Customs Brokers and Business Service providers (LSPs/BSPs). Ensure that the performance of the outsourced customs services, whether they be 3PLs managing the processes or the carriers directly contracted by PMI, matches the desired standards. This will be done by monitoring the performance through the development, establishment and continuous monitoring of set KPIs and implementing relevant improvement plans.
  • Control and determine the Trade basis to ensure that International logistics complies with the pertinent Local and International Regulations in the Region (LA&C), including SOX Controls. Handles and controls Customs entries and random vendor invoicing review according to Internal PMI controls.
Including the monitoring and validity of IPR (Inward processing Programs):
Support Process and Control of all IPR for the Region (IMMEX, Rulet 8th, Prosec, Drawback, AEO etc.)

  • Support Foreign Trade activities together with the Supply Chain Strategy.
Support the Customs broker and 3/4PL to be in compliance with all Tariff, Non Tariff and regulatory needs:
permits from the different Ministries such as Economy, Health, Agriculture, etc.

This includes the determination of the HTS codes for the Core products and support along with the Customs Broker and/or Consultant of the non core products.

Ensure Tax Portal System for Region is updated, and ensure that all Customs Brokers are using the correct and complete database agreed, this according to the management model.


  • Help the Lead Logistics Governance with all audits: internals (Local or Corporate) or externals. Responsible to generate and send information to the TAX teams in regards of Customs duties and taxes paid in the Region.
  • Free Trade Agreements analysis and support in regards of sourcing from or to the different PMI affiliates and or markets. As well as submitting Certificates of Origin to the different authorities and affiliates.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to PMI principles, practices and Tolling regulation (1) carry out all accountabilities & the activities in full compliance with the related PMI Principles & Practices, standards and laws & regulations (2) Safeguard all relevant information in accordance with to Tolling Repository guidelines to provide evidence of the strategic and entrepreneurial role.

Who we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Affairs, Economics, International Trade or any other related fields.
  • 4+ years of experience in Foreign Trade with compliance with International and Local Laws, regulations related to Logistics/Trade.
  • Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Pharma or Tobacco industries.
  • Project Management or project participation experience
  • SAP experience in related materials management and logistics modules preferred.
  • Previous experience with complex negotiation, performance assessment process and contracts.
  • Experience in governance of domestic and international logistics service providers (transport & warehousing) and solid understanding of B2C and B2B fulfillment processes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Foreign Trade, customs operations compliance.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
