Software Development Engineer in Test - San José, Costa Rica - Wind River

About the Opportunity:
Wind River Systems is seeking an experienced high-performing software engineer for a position validating a cloud-based platform that spans across all products.
You will join a highly skilled development team delivering internal and external tools and technologies across a complete DevSecOps platform, pioneering many new industry leading capabilities.
You must have experience in cloud-native software development and validation and be a highly adaptable team player who can quickly ramp up on new technologies and accomplish goals in a fast-paced agile environment.
You will plan and perform manual testing cycles over critical product features and will develop and execute automated test cases to cover functional testing cycles.
Over time, the model is expected to evolve from 70/30 (30% working on automation and 70% working on manual testing activities) to 50/50.
Responsibilities:
- Create test plans and related infrastructure to validate features and updates to the project's infrastructure.
- Create test cases to perform functional testing over critical business features.
- Analyze, create, and report defects that can help improve quality on features and development projects.
- Root cause analysis (review logs, investigate failure to root cause, query data bases, sniff network traffic, debug cloud architecturebased code).
- Work closely with technical leads to achieve organization goals.
ABOUT YOU
Qualifications - MUST HAVE:
- BSc (or equivalent work experience) in Computer Science, Computer / Electrical / Software / Systems / Mechanical Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Math / Physics, or another STEM field.
- Advanced degrees (e.g., MSc, MBA, or PhD) are appreciated, but not required.
- 7+ years working in software development arena, with 3+ years in a QAfocused role
- Experience as a software developer in test or as a quality assurance engineer
- Ability to work autonomously and support other test engineers
- Proven problem solving and analytical skills
- Experience creating and maintaining test cases
- Familiar with defect management and life cycle, bug creation, and reporting
- Experience with API/UI automation test frameworks
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Ability to put yourself into your users' shoes:
- knowing how to define test scope and analyze user stories to find all the ways it doesn't work well, vs. testing to show that it does work in a happy path scenario
- Exceptional, inclusive, collaborative team player comfortable with working in diverse, distributed agile environments and pairing with developers.
- Selfmanaged, fast learner with the desire and ability to master new technologies.
- Blend of technical expertise and soft skills, including effective & flexible communication skills in English.
Core Competencies and Demonstrated Success:
- You should have
most or all of these: - Experience with Agile, Scrum, and/or Lean Methodologies.
- Experience with third party tools and providers: Jira, Confluence, Git, Jenkins, Tekton
- Coding experience with scripting languages such as GO, Python or JavaScript
- API testing with technologies such as Postman, Swagger, SoapUI
