Supports the risk management program regarding all aspects of enterprise-wide risk management.

Responsibilities include facilitating the identification of risks throughout shared services and the organization assisting in the development of reporting and supervising formats on risk management issues and assisting in the development of developing for the assessment of risks throughout the organization.

Individual will also coordinate with the risk teams throughout the organization to support a unified risk management program. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.


Functional Responsibilities:


  • Analyze current risks and identifying potential risks that are affecting the company, including:
  • Conducting interviews with, and surveys of, management, control functions, and senior staff to understand their perspectives on current and emerging risks
  • Identify and evaluate risk themes and trends
  • Assist in the improvement of risk culture
  • Maintaining knowledge of enterprise risk management (ERM) trends and best practices, and reports issued by Moody's internal audit and compliance surveillance
  • Assist in the evaluation Moody's risk mitigation strategies
  • Compile and supervise key risk indicators
  • Supervise efficiency of controls by requesting and reviewing recurring reports prepared by the business owner and, as appropriate, requesting internal audit assistance to review efficiency of controls and mitigation plans
  • Supply to board reporting and other management deliverables
  • Building risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training within the company
  • Participate in the process to resolve MCO and MSS risk appetite and ensure alignment with Moody's mission, values, and strategy
  • Collaboration with other risk/assurance groups to understand interdependencies and shared risks
  • Scope/Supervision and Interaction:
  • Engage with business unit risk teams and management regularly to understand and develop risk strategies that address companywide threats and opportunities, and prioritize risk mitigation initiatives, with additional focus during annual strategic planning and budgeting processes
  • Partner with other areas of the organization on aligned assurance efforts
  • Make decisions appropriate for level of responsibility, raises concerns to the appropriate level of management and keeps management advised of activities
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in finance, accounting, economics, or other business field
  • Preferred: Graduate degree and/or relevant professional risk management qualification
  • 34 years of business experience; risk management background preferred
  • Key Competencies
  • Skills related to risk management for a global organization, experience using COSO ERM or ISO 31000 standards a plus
  • Knowledge and use of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) analytic and reporting tools i.e. Power BI.
  • Thinks critically and is able to identify problems and develop innovative solutions
  • Prior experience working with various levels of management
  • Able to work both selfdirected and as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
