    Responsibilities

  • Reviews, drafts and negotiates agreements and transaction documents in compliance with applicable policies and legal and ethical standards including in: Responding, within established guidelines, to customers' RFP/RFQs, vendor qualification documents and contractual requests; Drafting and negotiating with customers, appropriate contractual language to reflect the business interests and policies of the parties;
  • Takes the Contracts Lead role on Complex international and multi-BU project contracts; Complex frame agreements (multi-BU & -WA);
  • Supports Contract Services staff on Complex international and multi-BU project contracts; Complex frame agreements (multi-BU & -WA);
  • Acts as Global, World Area or BU Contracts Lead for Global Strategic Accounts;
  • Interfaces with customers, members of the legal team and other Emerson stakeholders to bring deals to closure;
  • Analyses business, financial, and legal risks;
  • Researches information on existing agreements and contractual programs, assisting with analysis and compiling data for reports;
  • Provides contract-related guidance to Sales, Project Management and other stakeholders;
  • Provides legal advice and interpretation of legal matters, including the application of law;
  • Participates in the approval process to assist business owners in making informed decisions and secure appropriate approvals;
  • Develops and communicates creative solutions and mitigation strategies to key negotiation points;
  • Assists in the mentoring and training of Contracts Trainees and Contracts Negotiators.

  • Pre-requisite Knowledge and Skills

  • 2 years of work experience in a contracts-related role
  • Licensed to practice law
  • Law Degree
  • Comfortable to work with senior management
  • Intermediate MS Office skills
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills; Spanish is an advantage
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of Contract law & principles. Commercial provisions such as warranty, liquidated damages/penalties, payment & freight terms, documentary credits and bank guarantees/sureties
