SUMMARY


Is responsible for inspecting, testing, adjusting and repairing avionics equipment such as radar, radio, pulse navigation autopilot and compass systems using hand tool, computers and test equipment to ensure airworthiness of the aircraft and its systems.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect components of avionics equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation.
  • Read and interpret manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other related documentation to determine feasibility and method of altering or repairing the aircraft and its associated components, determining the airworthiness of the aircraft and its associated components and replacement for malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and replace electrical wiring and associated components.
  • Adjust, repair or replace defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents, using hand tools.
  • Calibrate installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Operate ground station for airtostation check of radar or other equipment.
  • Fabricate wiring harnesses.
  • Comply with Avionics upgrades and modifications.
  • Interact with Company maintenance control, the customer and manufacturer in matters that concern the airworthiness of the aircraft, operational readiness of the aircraft and issues related to the troubleshooting of the aircraft's system.
  • Must have knowledge of U.S. Army Manual 951and DA /DOS PAM / 751 or U.S. Air Force Technical
  • Orders along with maintenance sections of the certificate holder's maintenance manual, the operations specifications, the provisions and applicable parts of FAR Part 13
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

NATIONALIZATION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide Host Nation training and oversight of avionics mechanics in support of performing maintenance on aircraft and their associated engines and subsystems to ensure airworthiness.
  • Provide oversight and training for maintenance contractors if required.
  • Assist with the development of a HN mechanic training program and the creation of targeted "On the Job" (OJT) training modules to address capability deficiencies when identified.
  • Comply with technical data as outlined in US army Manual 951 and DA/DOS PAM /751 or U.S. Air Force Technical Order and DoS supplements and SOPs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be a graduate of a two (2) year electronics/avionics technical school or possess equivalent experience.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Minimum eight (8) years' experience in aircraft installation, inspection, maintenance and repair.
  • Must have experience with working from blueprint drawings, diagram, specifications, service manuals, sketches, templates and other technical data.
  • Current Radiotelephone License issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
  • U.S. Security Clearance Required.
  • Host nation language proficiency per contract requirement

LATAM countries:
Spanish Level 2 in both Listening and Reading (L2/R2).


Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a maintenance training or quality control capacity.
  • Strong electrical/avionics background on program fleet types (UH1).
  • Current FAA issued Mechanic certificate with Airframe rating.
  • Previous experience working in a Host Nation program.
