POSITION OVERVIEW:


The Credit Team Lead reports to the Latin America Credit Manager and has primary responsibility for customer risk assessment, marginal risk mitigation, and collection processes in order to minimize bad debt expense, maximize sales, and optimize accounts receivable turnover.

This position also supports monthly reporting and accounting for Credit and Accounts Receivable as assigned by the Manager.


PRIMARY DUTIES:


Customer risk assessment and mitigation (25%)

  • Assesses customer credit risk based on H.B. Fuller experience, sales input, agency reports, and financial/bank status.
  • Assigns risk ratings and establishes credit limits within authority level or recommends limits that exceed authority.
  • Collaborates with sales and customers to mitigate marginal risk situations and escalates to Manager when appropriate.
  • Initiates and conducts meetings with Sales and Business clients to review marginal risk mitigation and customer A/R issues.
  • Meets with customers when appropriate to assess and mitigate risk, and to develop customer finance relationships.
  • Timing of customer risk assessments are within established service agreements.
  • Collaborates with team members in United States.

Supervise 3-5 Credit & Collections Representative who execute the daily collection and order hold resolution activity (20%)

  • Supervises the daily execution of order processing holds for over limit and aging conditions within SLA requirements.
  • Supervises the daily collection follow up program for LA delinquency within SLA requirements.
  • Assesses the performance and individual development needs.

Order holds for over limit and aging conditions (20%)

  • Address customer orders held systematically for over limit and aging conditions with appropriate H.B. Fuller resource—Manager, Customer Service, Sales, or Customer based on the issues and scope of the exposure.
  • Updates credit risk assessments and recommends changes in credit limits in response to changes in sales volumes.
  • Works promptly and closely with Sales and Customer Service to avoid unnecessary delays for customer orders.

Escalation of Collection Issues (20%)

  • Determines appropriate next steps for collection action after Credit Specialists have executed routine follow up without success.
  • Collaborates with Sales and business clients to determine the approach with customers for delinquency and future orders.
  • Recommends options and/or escalates delinquency issues to LA Manager for complex issues (payment agreements, placements).
  • Respond promptly to customer insolvency situations to minimize bad debt expense.

BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY:


The Credit Team Lead has up to $250k USD credit limit approval authority and up to 15% flex for exceptional exposure above approved limits.

This limit and exceptional approval authority is delegated by the Global Credit Manager based on experience and performance. The Credit Team Lead A/R portfolio is up to $50 million USD.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • College Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.
  • 5 + years of commercial or commensurate financial management experience
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, fully English.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills.
  • Business travel experience (23 trips per quarter) for LA meetings, customer visits and credit conferences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Written and verbal communication skills: English and Portuguese.
  • SAP ERP A/R system experience.
  • Credit Certification (CICP, ICCE, CGCE).
