What does a great Capacity Planning Engineer do?
A Card Services Capacity Engineer analyzes and reports on the performance, capacity and demand across the business and supporting infrastructure. Fiserv is looking for an individual who has specialized in IT analytical performance and Capacity Planning. The candidate is required to be well versed in capacity planning and demand planning methodologies and practices across different platforms. Maintaining a strong attention to detail is required. The ability to clearly communicate through speaking and writing to a broad audience is required. Being able to work both, collaboratively and individually is expected.
As a Capacity Planning Engineer you can look forward to :
Analyzing performance and capacity on the different application environments in Card Services. Be able to recognize potential performance bottlenecks or choke points from reading architectural flow diagrams and working with solution architects.
Maintaining and expanding data collection. Evaluate data validity.
Working with various data collection tools (TeamQuest, Tableau, SQL and ExtraHop).
Explaining clearly the data when questioned and in reporting.
Creating Excel data extracts and reports.
Writing simple Oracle SQL queries.
Researching new technology being implemented at Fiserv.
Setting up capacity and performance thresholds and alerts based on business SLAs and research.
Communicating with the business on projected demand.
Being able study capacity “what If” type questions. Build and run scenario models provide the results with full disclosure of criteria used.
Assisting in root cause problem analysis.
Giving presentations to senior management. Be able to speak in both technical and business terms.
Basic Qualifications for Consideration:
BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5+ years of relevant, Performance and capacity engineering experience is required.
A firm understanding of queuing and how it impacts performance across different types of processing.
Works effectively both independently and as a member of a cross functional team
3+ years Oracle DB experience
5+ years’ experience of performance engineer experience on LINUX, Solaris and Windows.
Experience with HP Non-stop system performance a bonus.
