As part of the Network Geography Analyst Team, you will be responsible for conducting network research important to the continued development of Neustar’s IP Intelligence technology. You will examine and weigh several inputs, and utilize that information to determine the geographic location of important elements of Internet infrastructure. Your work will have a direct impact on the quality of Neustar's products and the level of service we are able to provide to our customers. Neustar will provide the necessary training, and you will develop a strong understanding of how the internet infrastructure relates to geography and our products. Job Duties (Summary) Improve Neustar’s overall data quality: Utilize Neustar’s proprietary software tools to conduct detailed analysis on certain networks or IP addresses, analyze routers and write heuristic algorithms to associate geography with IP addresses. Work with automation and research teams to improve automated data mapping processes and techniques. Identify weaknesses in Neustar’s data and techniques, and suggest approaches for addressing these weaknesses. This may involve digging through networks to find hidden or difficult to find networks that share similar characteristics with other networks. Develop new and/or more efficient data research and data analysis techniques. Organize, collect, and share research techniques/insights with team members. Observe trends and patterns in IP address allocation and assignment. Directly support Neustar’s customers: Respond to customer requests and feedback to analyze specific networks in a timely and complete manner. Provide insight and analysis of IP geography to Neustar’s customers. Review the networks most frequently requested by customers on both a regular and ad hoc basis. Stay abreast of new and most current technology to help with day to day job functions: As it pertains to networking and locating networks on the Internet. Be able to keep up with current tools and technology that Neustar is currently utilizing. Maintain up-to-date awareness of industry trends. Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time. Qualifications/Education Computer Information Systems, Geography Information Systems, Computer Science (other relevant technical field) degree or experience in related field. Recent graduates with 1-3 years of experience as Analysts/Geography/Geography Information Technology/IT backgrounds ideal. Basic knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, network architecture, protocols, service providers. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with emphasis on determining the geographic nature of the Internet. Ability to become the subject matter expert in the area of Internet Geography. Ability to manipulate, interpret, and convey big data sets. Strong SQL skills. Experience working with non-relational database such as Hadoop or Spark. Knowledge of programming or scripting language. Proficiency with Excel. Strong research skills and ability to document research findings. Results oriented and have the mindset to improve data, processes, and procedures. Self-starting with ability to work independently as well as work effectively in a team environment. Strong oral and written communication skills including informal presentation skills before small groups. Self-managed and motivated.
