The eBay Developer Ecosystem organization is seeking a highly motivated Senior MTS Architect who is interested in building a best-in-class portfolio of public APIs and world-class developer experience. As part of the Core Technology organization, we are the team responsible for building a phenomenal tech-led reimagination of our platform and capabilities that enable our internal and external developers to build scalable solutions that end customers love. We are a data driven agile team where the team members influence the product roadmap with their creative ideas, work with product managers, architects and engineers across domains in the buy and sell area including the platform teams. We are looking for someone who takes ownership and enjoys collaborating with other architects, product managers, developers, legal counsels to build and innovate on backend services, applications to power eBay’s commerce experiences as well as 3rd-party integrations using eBay public APIs. This is a highly visible role and you will work closely with various teams across eBay involved in the public API initiatives to enable success. You will have a tremendous opportunity to solve complex problems at a massive scale, influence Business and Product development teams, and create new innovative revenue streams for eBay. You will apply your ecommerce knowledge and experience, and big data analytics skills to create a meaningful impact on people across the globe. Primary Job Responsibilities Craft solutions to innovate and build robust products and utilities to provide behavior analysis for the eBay Developers Programs Apply your machine learning skills to build scalable models to analyze behavioral patterns Build scalable RESTful APIs Develop technical and domain expertise and apply to solving product challenges Lead technical design discussions and participate in code reviews Work closely with product managers, engineers and other architects Collaborate with teams involved in the API initiatives Drive a culture of quality, customer/developer-centricity, scalability, and reliability Mentor team members in technical design Job Requirements 15+ years of relevant, broad engineering experience leading the delivery of APIs and large-scale distributed systems Preferred Master's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience Solid foundation in computer science with strong proficiencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design Excellent Software development skills: Java/J2EE, XML, JSON, Web/RESTful services, design patterns Strong background in distributed and large-scale systems Expertise in using Database Query Languages like SQL, MongoDB, Hive, etc. Expertise in using Hadoop and related tools such as Hive, Pig, HBase, Spark Experience in developing public APIs and relevant products intended for 3rd-party developers Experience in ecommerce marketplaces and/or developer programs is a plus Good security background Application behavioral and risk analysis experience Excellent decision-making, communication and collaboration skills Agile methodologies experience Kibana/Elasticsearch experience is a plus eBay Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
