Payments Planning & Cost Optimization Associate

Changing the world through digital experiences is what Adobe's all about. We give everyone, from emerging artists to global brands, everything they need to design and deliver beautiful and powerful images, videos and apps that transform how companies and people everywhere interact. Adobe’s saas business model unlocks global access to our amazing digital products and services, and it is powered by our CNP, subscription billing and payment function, processing over $7B in payments annually from customers in over 190 markets. As a mature, public company, Adobe has enjoyed 20%+ growth over the last several years, and there is an opportunity to unlock more with a payments strategy that enables local methods and that drives payment processing to “best in class.”

Adobe established a Global Payments and Billing business function in 2020, and we are recruiting a team of business professionals to drive our strategy and payment processing to the next level. An important aspect of this function is to create visibility to Adobe’s payment cost fees and to define strategies that allow our global fees to scale efficiently with our business. Total cost is driven by more than just the payment processing fees passed to Adobe by our acquiring banks, so an end to end analysis and audit of total cost will unlock the fullest potential of this opportunity. Internally, you will partner with Finance and Product to drive change from the insights you uncover from payments cost data. With many opportunities in front of Adobe, this role requires the ability to analyze the details and “big picture,” strategic thinking to prioritize high value opportunities.

  • Establish and evolve payment cost KPIs that create visibility to the most important underlying factors driving the average cost of an Adobe recurring transaction.
  • Stay current on evolving industry trends to anticipate changes to Adobe’s payment fees before they hit our GL (e.g., scheme/interchange fee increase announcement).
  • Identify strategies and build financial models that drive cost savings with our acquiring bank partners, or through internal product changes.
  • Lead and support analyses to measure the impact of changes within Adobe’s ecosystem, including contract renewals and/or RFIs or RFPs.
  • Establish an operating rhythm in partnership with the Accounting teams to audit for billing errors and to ensure payment fee accuracy in comparison to Adobe’s processing contracts.

  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to use business intelligence tools and MS Excel to build models and analyses of payment processing data ()
  • Payment processing cost components (e.g., interchange fees, scheme fees, acquiring fees, gateway fees, down grade fees, etc.), recurring billing, and general ecommerce is desirable, but not required.
  • 5+ years of payments space (i.e., with a processor, merchant, acquiring or issuing bank, or one of the global networks).
  • Ability to lead through influence in a highly matrixed organization; and to drive opportunities through collaborative consensus with Finance, Treasury and Product.
  • A strong candidate will be self-motivated, act with a high level of independence, and have the ability to clearly and simply communicate complex payment concepts in a way that is easy for others to understand.
  • Ability to build financial models and related scenario analyses, and a bias toward action based on facts. You will be able to move quickly while also maintaining the highest levels of accuracy and quality.
  • BA/BS in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics or other relevant analytical field is preferred, and an MBA is a plus.
