Education:

  • BA degree in Engineering or related field. Desirable master’s degree in business administration.
  • Experience:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Electromechanical, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical field with approximately 10 years of progressively responsible senior capital programs and/or Technical engineering management experience.A Master’s degree is preferred.Project management experience in Production, ERP, Manufacturing Engineering and Process Engineering programs is desired.
  • At least 5 years of experience in managerial position in areas related to engineering, facilities, or quality, and 3 years Medical or High-tech industry experience.
  • Specialized Knowledge (Desirable):

    ·Knowledge of quality systems and medical device development

    ·Certification in or demonstrates the application of Six Sigma and/or lean

    ·Knowledge of ISO and FDA Quality Systems Regulations requirements.

    Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees, evaluates, and manages the activities of New Products and Process Introduction (NPI) department delivering highly complex multi-Products, Process, and Technical Projects.Sr. Manager is responsible for creating policy and strategic direction as well as planning, directing, delivering, and evaluating the effectiveness of all Support Services Engineering (SSE) Activities, policies and practices, and related functions. Manage the operational and fiscal activities of the department. Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the department. Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures. Sr. Manager is also responsible for hiring, training, and coaching employees. From Technical areas maintains organizational operations by applying engineering technology; planning and implementing engineering projects; directing staff. This position works closely with R&D, RA, QA, Suppliers, and with Corporate supports areas such as Supply Chain, Finances, Facilities, etc. Responsible of plant transfers.
  • Oversight of programs and activities of the NPI and Support Engineering department, ensuring the development, planning, implementation, and measured outcomes of New Product Introduction, Manufacturing System, Molding and Tooling, Production Support, Machine Shop NPI and Portfolio Management Review (PMR) functions.
  • Supervision of the technical liaisons with Local Operations Departments, other Corporate Departments, private consultants, boards, task forces, Suppliers, etc., to ensure that the Facility is effectively represented and providing measurable value.
  • Management of the programs and activities of Industrial and Process Engineering Department, ensuring timely and effective planning, development, implementations, and measured outcomes of SSE, NPI, as well PMR.Oversees the cooperation and/or collaborations with Corporate R&D departments (GSS & IBS), other corporate support departments, Local contractors, Regulatory Affairs, as well as with significant stakeholders to identify opportunities, constraints, strategies, and plans for corporate and local projects.
  • Direction for the overall NPI programs and activities of the Tool Shop, Fixturing and tooling Areas, ensuring that all project controls-related planning, estimating, scheduling, monitoring, and control of technical projects analysis, funding, budgeting, documenting, and reporting are timely, accurate, and conform to the company policies and practices as well as project delivery requirements.
  • Presentation of highly complex multi-Product, NPI, and SSE Projects proposals and/or concepts, as well as Technical programs’ milestone and completion outcomes to the Sr. management as well as local staff, commissions, technical organizations, legal advisors, senior technical personnel, etc.
  • Manage and oversee the Costa Rica EHS staff to support requirements that ensure all environmental, health and safety guidelines are maintained.
  • Identify and prioritize problems (or unexpected results) and drive them to resolution
  • Provides leadership to the NPI and SSE Department, encouraging creativity, growth, and initiative.Ensures interactive communication and feedback through meetings, collaborative projects, as well as measured outcomes.
  • Manage the operational and fiscal activities of the department to include: staffing levels, budgets, and financial goals.
  • Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the department.
  • Analyze and document business processes and problems. Develop solutions to enhance efficiencies.
  • Coordinate and implement solutions from process analysis and general department projects.
  • Direct staff in the development, analysis, and preparation of reports.
  • Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct interviews, hire new staff, and provide employee orientation.
  • Coach and provide career development advice to staff.
  • Establish employee goals and conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling to include work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations.
  • Assist staff to resolve complex or out of policy operation problems.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources for appropriate staffing levels.
  • Schedule and conduct department meetings.
  • Responsible to meet department productivity and quality goals.
  • Develops Department Budget.
  • Communicate with Supervisors, Managers, and Vice Presidents on Department operations.
  • Complete human resource paperwork.
  • Coordinate VIP projects and VIP tracker for the site.
