Our Internal Systems Engineering team is responsible for creating the web-applications Cloudera uses on a daily basis to solve real world problems of our customers. As a Developer you will be working with a team of experienced engineers to design, architect, and develop the back-end of our systems and applications; create functional prototypes of future ideas; and participate in our ongoing effort to improve and maintain the quality of new and existing code.

In this role, you will...

  • Work with the full stack of technology, designing these systems on top of Hadoop, HBase, Kafka, Spark, and Solr to integrate data from many data sources with data visualizations and web front ends.
  • Work closely with other developers in a fast paced, test-driven, agile, collaborative programming environment.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities on projects, setting accurate expectations as to the scope of work and required time to complete, and communicating status effectively through the completion of work.
  • Plan out work in two week sprints to ensure incremental progress toward larger projects.
  • Solve real world problems, and has an outsized impact on how people at Cloudera work.

    • You must have...

  • Relevant studies / BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years experience with building Java applications or web services.
  • Understanding SOLID and other object-oriented design principles, as well as developing testable code.
  • Good understanding of Unix or Linux, with the ability to accomplish tasks such as setting up a web server or installing a relational database.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience (or demonstrated interest) with data storage and processing on HDFS or HBase, using Flume, Kafka, Spark or MapReduce.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Desire to create and learn new things.

  • Javascript experience.
  • SQL experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Python development experience.
  • Experience with NiFi or Streamsets.
  • Experience working with Machine Learning algorithms.
