Senior Python Developer

Our Ideal Candidate:

Must be an exceptionally talented and passionate Python Senior Developer to join us as we continue to grow and achieve our aim of becoming the global market leader in the provision of business and technology services to the wholesale and investment banking sector. As a Python Senior Developer, you will be working on extremely demanding and technically challenging projects for some of the world’s top financial institutions. You will enjoy a highly collaborative working environment with fellow GFT employees and our clients, as we continue our excellent track record of successful project delivery.

In this position you will be part of the execution of data science and distributed computing development projects from initiation through release, utilizing SDLC methodologies and leveraging Agile/Scrum concepts and principles where appropriate. You must have a comprehensive understanding of complex business processes from a software development standpoint so as recommend solutions or improvements to those processes. GFT is offering to all our employees in Costa Rica full working from home time right now, and for this position a 4days WFH at long term!

Responsibilities:

  • Help design and implement functional requirements
  • Code base to python 3
  • Build efficient back-end features in Python
  • Manage testing and bug fixes
  • Prepare technical documentation
  • Implement software enhancements and suggest improvements
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Work with a cross-functional team in agile environments to ensure successful product delivery
  • Actively participate in the solutions design process
  • Designing and implementing RESTful API’s using Python
  • Supporting and maintaining existing software products, application and interfaces
  • Develop infrastructure for cloud native data ingestion and access
  • Strong English and Spanish communication skills (verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal).
  • Previous experience transitioning from Python 2 to 3

    • Skills Required:

  • At least 5+ years’ experience as software engineer
  • Robust object-oriented design pattern knowledge and implementation experience using Python
  • Experience with Python frameworks like Flask, Pandas, Dash
  • Experience using SqlAlchemy ORM
  • Experience working with services, APIs and application based of it
  • Experience in designing multi-tier application architecture and distributed solutions
  • Experience working with microservices
  • Experience working with relational/non-relational databases and understanding of storage technologies (like MongoDB, SQL Server)
  • Experience working with Pandas, NumPy, SqlAlchemy, Dash and other frameworks
  • Experience with Agile development concepts and related tools (like Jira, Confluence)
  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Computer Engineer or equivalent.
  • Self-starter, self-motivated and proactive.

    • Desired Skills:

  • Web front end development using Dash and react
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and Kafka
  • Experience in the finance industry and knowledge of financial markets and products
