Position Overview

The Sr. Software Engineer, Observability will focus on supporting and enhancing Adobe’s Digital Media Splunk environment, which manages hundreds of Terabytes of daily ingestion day and Petabytes of storage in an AWS environment spanning regions worldwide. We look forward to working with you!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain 24/7 uptime in all environments, including search, ingestion, and storage capabilities
  • Enhance existing system monitoring and continually identify critical areas for proactive response to potential problems
  • Develop efficiencies through automation and architectural enhancements
  • Manage release and upgrades through configuration management tools such as Chef, Salt, and Puppet
  • Troubleshoot client requests and concerns, working with teams across the world to resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Work with Adobe teams to greatly increase efficiency in Splunk searches, reports, alerts, and log ingestion
  • Engage with teams at the log creation level to maintain logging efficiency
  • Contribute to architecting future Splunk implementations
  • Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Drive projects to resolution, involving internal and external teams to accomplish goals
  • Consistently create and update documentation for both users and admins of Splunk
  • Requirements

    BS or equivalent and minimum of 5-7 years of related experience. Hands-on experience with Splunk deployments in large-scale, fast-paced corporate environments. Strong public cloud experience, including AWS and Azure administration. Scripting/Programming experience in multiple languages, particularly the ability to automate workflows and integrate various technologies through API. Strong background in SPL queries to create and troubleshoot complicated knowledge objects in Splunk.

    The successful candidate will:

  • Exhibit excellent teamwork, focus on customer service and strong communication/documentation skills
  • Able to multitask under pressure during time critical events
  • Provide immediate environment support on a 24/7 oncall basis
  • Be able to support, mentor and provide technical leadership guidance to other team members and customers. Act as a subject matter authority for Splunk at Adobe
  • Familiarity with incident management process and understanding of ITIL terminology
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to deal with ambiguous situations on a consistent basis as well as strong writing, verbal, and presentation skills
