We are seeking a highly motivated System Validation Lead/Manager to help validate and deliver Velodyne’s industry-leading products portfolio of Lidars with quality and efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition and deployment of Lidar EV/DV methodology, author test plan/proposal that includes testing approach, timeline and how each test group will be managed working with cross-functional groups.
  • Planning and Implementation of the validation test coverage in accordance with verification plan and autonomous grade requirement standards
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to a team of system validation engineers.
  • Take responsibility in the full chain of system validation tasks from begin to end: define the validation methodology, design and planning of test setup and test sequence, articulate detailed requirement and algorithm for test automation, data analysis and test failures follow up to close the loop.
  • Lead the design and execution of test plans to: verify key Optical/Electrical/FW features under test; validate system level range and detectability performance; reproduce customer complained issues and work with cross-functional Engineering teams to drive for solutions.
  • Set goals, strategies, budgets and oversee deployment of system validation function across different product families.
  • Job Requirement

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or other Engineering field with 6+ years of related industry experience working in product development environment.
  • Experience building and leading Engineering team.
  • Working knowledge of opto-electronic and sensor products in a broad disciplinary setting that includes Electrical circuits, ASICs, Optical and mechanical components, and uses embedded system (FW/FPGA) as the brain to bring everything together in making a functional module/device.
  • Strong hands-on work ethic, willing to actively test sensors and analyze results.
  • Strong problem-solving, diagnosing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills along with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Direct TOF Lidar development and testing experience is a big plus
  • Working knowledge of sensor, transceiver or semiconductor manufacturing process is a bonus: wiring and gluing, packaging, active alignment, in process monitoring and control, end of line functional test.
