Context :

The consideration of migration as a dimension that is part of the regional integration and development processes requires more and more coordination and consensus among the countries involved. Access to information on data related to migration serves as the basis for guiding the efforts of states in the development of migration policies based on evidence. The collection, systematization and analysis of reliable data are necessary tools to promote effective migration management. This will contribute towards the fulfillment of targets 10.7 and 17.18 of the 2030 Agenda.

The Joint Initiative on the Health of Migrants (known as INCOSAMI) is a technical coordination mechanism, coordinated by the Division of Migrant Health for the Americas, that specifically focuses on the broader aspects of migration and health in Central America and Mexico in the areas of access to strategic information, creation of alliances and policy development. It brings together governments, civil society organizations, academics, UN agencies and other international partners working on migration health issues in the Mesoamerican region.

Under the general supervision of the Regional Director (RD), the candidate will be responsible for the following functions:

Responsibilities:

  • Act as Coordinator of the Project on Interactive Health Map and monitor finances, administration, logistics and the execution of the different activities that are developed within the framework of the programs.
  • Support the collection and updating of the information necessary to feed the monitoring and evaluation system.
  • Follow up on the execution of a work plan for the execution of project activities
  • Follow up on the work of consultants hired under the project, in accordance with the standards established by the Organization.
  • Act as a liaison and actively coordinate with the focal points in the countries included in the project.
  • Represent the IOM, when required, in meetings with external counterparts related to research and production of quantitative and qualitative analyzes.
  • Facilitate communications with the different stakeholders in the execution of projects.
  • Strengthen the creation of strategic alliances and synergies with relevant initiatives in the Mesoamerican region
  • Carry out work trips related to the general coordination and evaluation of the Project and liaison activities with key stakeholders.
  • Support the development of regional events with different counterparts from the health sector.
  • Collect and systematize the information of the Project to respond to requests from the Regional Coordination, the donor or counterparts, regarding its progress in relation to the fulfillment of the objectives set when required, as well as for knowledge management.
  • Perform other functions that are assigned.

    • Education

  • University degree in social, economic, public policy, administration and related sciences or similar from a recognized academic institution.
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline (Social / Political / Health Sciences, Economics, Development, Migrations; Project Management) or an equivalent combination of education, training & experience

    • Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience. Of which 2 years in the development and coordination of projects.
  • Proven ability in the design and development of training processes.
  • Experience in project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Preferably with experience in website content management and the use of content management systems (CMS) such as Drupal or similar software, and data visualization systems such as PowerBi.
  • Experience in content development (reports, information sheets, summaries) based on statistical data for both specialized and non-specialized audiences.

    • Languages

  • English and Spanish is required.
