This is your chance to work with some really big data! Our client is analyzing web traffic flows from millions of visitors each day.

We are presently seeking a database expert with big data and/or business intelligence experience.

Your role will include designing, developing, and operating data warehouses, and supporting business intelligence analysts.

Your responsibilities will consist of:
  • schema design and development
  • loading, updating, maintaining, databases. ( ETL )
  • Develop solutions to solve business problems involving heterogeneous and large datasets
  • developing advanced business intelligence queries
  • being the BI point person amongst the technical staff.

    • You will initially be working with the following technologies:
  • Hadoop
  • MapR
  • Tableau
  • mysql
    • Relevant experience with similar Big Data and Business Intelligence products/technologies will be considered, eg Pentaho, Jaspersoft, Hive, Cassandra etc.

    Required Qualifications:
  • Well versed in scripting languages - Java, Python, PHP, etc.
  • Experience with big data framework and development languages eg Hadoop, Pig, Hive, HBase, etc.
  • Bachelors (Masters preferred) in CS, IS, Econometrics, Statistics
  • 4+ years industry experience.

    • Experience with the following also desirable:
  • Fluent English
  • Basic knowledge of Linux usage and administration
  • Background in CS theory: algorithms, efficiency, etc.
  • Experience in applying statistical analysis methods to large datasets
  • Participation in architecture and design phases of projects
  • Understanding of source control systems and how to use them (SVN, GIT)
  • Ability to write and present design documents
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
  • deep experience with Relational databases
  • Team player motivated by technical challenges
  • Ability to travel as-needed to deliver on customer facing projects
