DevOps Automation Engineer

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity within Experian IT Services to join a Global Build team. You will be working with technologies such as Ansible, Ansible Tower, AWS, Azure Terraform and VMware among others in order to develop infrastructure as code.

You will play a critical role in designing, developing and implementing infrastructure and application deployment automation both on premise and across public clouds. You will be part of a growing, high performing team that will be challenged to meet the demands of a growing global FTSE100 business. 

Responsibilities

  • Problem solving, process mapping and research. Initial research will be done at the start of any new project to fully understand the requirement and any potential solutions.
  • Develop automated requests that flow through a complete end-to-end process, leading to infrastructure and application delivery.
  • Investigate and remediate any failures with the above process.
  • Working with business developers, build and automation teams.
  • Maintain and improve day to day processes and existing code.
  • Follow our coding standards, adhere to best practices and complete meticulous documentation.
  • Maintain our Ansible Tower environment, ensuring service and compliance with security guidelines.
  • Actively participate in our AGILE methodology and SCRUM ceremonies.
  • Collaborate with all areas of the business as required.

    • Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience working in automation development and infrastructure design and implementation
  • Willingness and demonstrated ability to cross-skill into all areas of the role, where skills are not current
  • Advanced English. Fluent in verbal and written English.
  • Strong Linux and Windows System Administration experience within a complex multi-tier environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ansible and Ansible Tower.
  • Good understanding of distributed version control systems like GIT
  • Experience in CI/CD processes and practices.
  • Expertise in automated build and deploy processes and tools.
  • Understanding of code and scripting languages such as BASH, YAML, Python and/or Ruby.
  • Familiarity with automated discovery and CMDB.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services such as AWS, Azure and IaC technologies, including terraform.
  • Knowledge in Networking, DNS, Route Tables, Gateways, Load Balancers, Databases.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies such as SCRUM.
  • Experience with ITIL methodology.

  • BMC BladeLogic automation toolset
  • Familiar with the Atlassian suite (including Jira, Bitbucket and Confluence).
  • Familiar with ServiceNow or other ITSM tools.
  • Experience with SQL and PostgreSQL (NoSQL experience is a plus)
  • Knowledge in Virtualization platforms such as Cytrix and VMWare.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow development.
  • NSH and PowerShell would also be advantageous.
