We are looking for an experienced, high-energy, hands-on, Sales Engineer to become part of the Thales Cloud Protection and Licensing sales team. In this position, you will provide expert product and technical knowledge to assist the sales team with understanding a prospect’s business and technical need for data protection, their systems and architecture demands and then be able to translate that into an innovative and creative data protection solution built around Thales’s market-leading products.
This role requires both technical and sales skills to be able to understand customer needs/requirements in order to assist in the qualification of sales opportunities. The candidate will be viewed as a trusted advisor to help customers and prospects utilize the Thales solution.
Key Responsibilities Experience supporting customers with technical challenges in pre-sales efforts. You will work closely with our prospects to gather information on their user-case, application environment and data flows. You will provide architect solutions with the Thales product portfolio, expeditiously, utilizing your thorough and accurate customer follow-up skills. Act as subject matter expert in security and Thales security solutions for customers and prospects in the respective region. Customize presentations for customers to explain the Thales security solutions. You will lead (and be actively involved in) the Proof of Concept of the sales engagement. Plan with customers Proof of Concept environments for products to be tested which includes completing the Acceptance Test Plan that defines requirements and success criteria. Understand customer requirements and design encryption solutions to address those requirements. Design and Maintain a demo environment for customer presentations. Install and configure the Thales security solutions and agents to provide Proof of Concepts to customers. This includes installing software on UNIX, Windows and Linux operating systems as well as scripting processes for customers. Complete technical RFPs and RFIs relating to encryption, tokenization and data security needs that are received from customers. You will provide sample code or some customization to meet the prospects needs with our flexible solutions. You will be involved in the handover to the Professional Service team who will convert your vision into reality. Work with Product Management to prioritize and define customer enhancement requests Create videos or quick guides documents to enhance the official product documentation. Assist partners with customer presentations, Proof of Concepts. Work closely with sales representatives to complete account plans and strategy for major accounts in the region. Maintain technical and security certifications – for Thales products and external technology certifications
Required Skills and Experience Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Information Service or related field or equivalent work experience 5+ years of experience. 4+ years Pre-Sales, Post Sales, or Professional Services customer facing engineering experience 4+ years Pre-Sales, Post Sales, or Professional Services customer facing engineering experience Encryption – Proficient with and understanding the foundation concepts of cryptography. Thorough knowledge of encryption (Include, symmetric encryption algorithms AES-CBC/CFB/CTR/GCM, DES, 3DES, asymmetric encryption algorithms RSA, ECC, DSA, Hash algorithms, SSL) solutions and technology available with different on premise as well as cloud storage. Public Key Infrastructure - hands on experience on Public Key Infrastructure and its deployment is a must. Familiarity with PKI and digital certification is mandatory for this role. Key Management – experience with Key Management Solutions (KMS). Familiarity with Key Management Interoperability protocol (KMIP) and native cloud (AWS, Azure…) key protection solutions is a plus. Strong skills in UNIX, Linux and Windows Server operating systems. Both an understanding and hands on experience is a must. Strong networking knowledge and troubleshooting capabilities and experience Hands on experience with major cloud service provider platforms (e.g. Amazon Web Services, Azure Cloud, Google Cloud platform, RackSpace Cloud/Hosting Services etc.) and cloud enablement technology platforms (e.g., VMWare, Openstack, etc.) Strong background in at least one of the following: Storage (SAN, NAS, etc) Strong background in at least one of the following: Databases (Oracle, MS-SQL, MongoDB, Oracle, Teradata etc) Strong background in at least one of the following: Big Data (Hortonworks, Hadoop, etc) Basic networking knowledge and troubleshooting experience. Excellent communication skills – written and verbal to all levels of users – developers to c-levels Excellent Presentation Skills from 1:1 to large groups. Both PowerPoint and white boarding. Ability to position, discuss and counter solution validation, using objection-handling skills.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with major Cloud Native technologies and micro services such as, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Dockers, GitHub, hands on experience with installations and configurations. Experience with Data Tokenization Development skills in C/C++,Java, SOAP/XML, etc. Scripting skills in Perl, python, js, vbs, Java, .NET or REST API etc. CISSP, CISM, or related security certifications are a plus
