Our team is seeking a Data Analyst with strong SQL, data modeling, ad-hoc data analysis, dashboard development and communication skills. You will become a subject matter expert on the data and be proactive in driving issues toward resolution through working with our data engineering team on new feature requirements and resolving data discrepancies. You will also work with internal teams who consume our data, turning their requirements into actionable reports. In this role you will be interfacing with our world class customer facing teams including: Customer Success Management, Global Support, Product Management, and various other teams across VMware. The right candidate will be self-directed and be able to understand product strategy and business goals as well as answer high-impact business questions. Day-to-day activities may include:

  • Contribute to data requirement discussions as the Subject Matter Expert
  • Own and deliver dashboards, reports, and adhoc analysis 
  • Dive into data issues proactively and work with data engineering to ensure resolution
  • Actively contribute to a culture of high ownership, continuous improvement and engineering excellence
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements of our data analytics practices and processes
  • Job Role and Responsibilities: 

    We are looking for a Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics expert to drive business optimization & transformation across the End User Computing organization. The position responsibilities include the following:

  • Tackle business problems, drive decision-making, and champion impactful analytics by using business expertise, data understanding, and analytic experience
  • Analyze large and complex datasets from a variety of sources and produce in-depth insights into product performance
  • Develop analytical datasets in Redshift and other data warehouse platforms to meet business objectives
  • Partner closely with Customer Success, Product Management, Field Engineering and Support teams to understand their business challenges and develop appropriate analytics, reporting and visualization solutions to address them
  • Support communication, training, and documentation to enable successful user adoption
  • Enable reporting & analytic skills across other teams to grow the capabilities of the organizations we support and promote self-service analytics
  • Act as a data and analytics expert. Analyze data to answer business questions, recommend analytic solutions to provide business insights, and craft dashboards for long term business needs
  • Create and maintain internal documentation on the usage of our analytics platform
  • Required Skills:

  • 3-5+ years of hands on analytics experience
  • Solid background in dashboard & report development, business analysis, and requirements gathering
  • Exceptional problem solving, technical and data analysis skills
  • Intermediate SQL and a solid understanding of data relationship modeling
  • Experience building and maintaining complex dashboards in Tableau
  • Clear, professional, and concise communications (written/verbal), presentation and facilitation skills
  • Able to use consultative approach and persuasive communication
  • Ability to take initiative and to set priorities independently and demonstrate ability to deliver on ambiguous projects
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Preferred Skills:

  • Python for data analysis and automation
  • Experience with AWS, specifically Redshift, S3, and EC2
  • Experience with web-based analytics tools such as Mode Analytics
  • Experience with Postgres, Hadoop, and SAP HANA
  • Experience Business Objects (or similar analytical packages)
  • Data standards and governance
