Global Financial Services (GFS) was formed in Q3 2018 through the merger of Global Finance Operations, Integrated Finance Solutions and Cash Generation.

GFS is at the heart of the Finance function - accountable to the AstraZeneca (AZ) Group for the design and delivery of high quality, simple to operate transactional finance processes that enable our customers to focus on AZ's strategic priorities.


Our processes cover record to report, purchase to pay, order to cash, controllership, financial planning and analysis and finance operations, and we drive AZ's cash focus through disciplined management of supplier and customer payment terms and practices.

GFS provides P2P/T&E process helpdesk services to internal AZ and external end users, including training support to internal AZ users.

GFS operates globally through a combination of in-house captive and offshored business process outsourcing (BPO). The BPO element has been provided in partnership with our service provider partner Genpact since 2008.

AZ Finance is part way through an ambitious, broad ranging, multi-year transformation programme, called Finance Transformation (FT).

FT plans for transactional process and technology improvements will underpin a next wave of GFO transformation and a step change in service effectiveness and efficiency.


The vision of the Global Finance Services (GFS) Purchase to Pay (P2P) team is to make buying and paying effective and effortless for our business and to be the customer of choice to our suppliers.

In order to deliver that we need to further simplify, standardise and automate our processes.

Role holder will lead on a day-to-day the operations, delivery team, overseeing one or multiple delivery centres (internal / BPO), ensuring the standard processes are adopted, overseeing multiple delivery teams (internal and or external), implement and monitor internal controls to secure the service delivery is up to the expectations


Typical Accountabilities

Line management

  • Responsibility for managing and motivating a team of 610 Business Analysts, ensuring that the team delivers to
- the highest standard of customer service whilst adhering to global process and all relevant financial controls.

  • Management and allocation of resource across the Business Analyst team.
  • Building excellent working knowledge of customer requirements and business drivers which are shared and
- understood by your team of Business Analysts.

  • Coaching and development of staff will be integral to building a customer orientated mindset.
  • To build and maintain a strong relationship with our customers and Business Partners.

P2P Leadership Skills:


  • Work under pressure with resilience and emotional intelligence should be a daily duty.
  • Proactive and results oriented.
  • Engage the team, motivate and leadership with example.
  • Assimilation to change is a premise.
  • Exceed the expectation building a strong communication skill with management, stakeholders, trainers,
teammates within GFS Americas and supporting daily, monthly and quarterly processes delivering excellent customer service.

to help. Teamwork oriented.

  • Demonstrate a culture of problem solving and leadership by approaching other team members with couching
that suggested possible ways to find out the root cause on reporting or knowledge issues.

  • Feedback with leadership provided to the team in order to accomplish the GFS & AZ goals.
  • Multitasking and ability to create excellent teamwork collaboration environment.
  • Priority sense is a must.
  • Assist in better business decisions by provision of financial expertise and insightful analysis to all ad hoc queries
in line with SLA and provide support to on-going projects.

  • Ensure corporate governance standards are met, taking accountability for effective operation of relevant
financial reporting controls.

  • Identify opportunities for standardization and simplification across the process area on a continual basis.
  • Be a change agent.

Process improvement / Standardization

  • Set clear process guidelines, quick reference guides, standard operational procedures.
  • Identify, design and implement improvement projects towards efficiency improvement.
