Experian Global Finance Services (GFS) is currently going through an exciting time of transition, process improvement and automation to drive productivity and best practice finance.

Experian Global Finance Services is the fastest growing area of the Experian finance team with c 50% of the Experian Finance roles within this organisation.

Global Finance Services is based in 5 main locations:

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Sofia, Bulgaria; San Jose, Costa Rica; Santiago, Chile; Sao Carlos, Brazil with satellite offices in Nottingham, UK and Costa Mesa, US.

We are looking to consolidate activities in fewer centres and so are looking to expand our San Jose centre by relocating roles from other centres.


With the implementation of IFRS15, it has become necessary to focus on activities that require specific and expert knowledge, not only to recognize revenue properly but also to collaborate with Sales and Operations teams effectively.

The role is an incredible opportunity to develop into a true business partner. It includes significant exposure with Senior Management, Group Finance, External Audit and the Business Units.


Key responsibilities:


  • Ensures full compliance of Experian's Revenue Recognition policy.
  • Provide independent process review and ensure effective controls are in place.
  • Responsible for supervising a small team (35 members), performance review, continuous improvement and coordinating tasks and managing workloads.
  • Timely reports of Revenue Recognition reconciliations to all stakeholders.
  • Proactively highlight risks and opportunities.
  • Provide detailed support for audit samples & queries in a timely manner.
  • Support the global team with SOX preparatory project work.
  • Completes the monthend checklist in detail.
  • Seeks constant process improvements.
  • Provides relevant metrics such us but not limited to:
  • Disclosures
  • Project Profitability
  • Billing schedule
  • Deferred Revenue
  • Accrued Sales
  • Maintains an updated Business Continuity Plan.
  • Constantly preaches best practices to all parties involved.
  • Maintains regular meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Maintains current process documentation.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Coordinate the monthend and yearend close processes. Capable of functioning as content expert and lead the team in questions related to their processes.
  • Participates in monthend and yearend closing activities including preparing journal entries, gathering information, and producing documentation to support transactions.
  • Develops a high performing team, with clear progression and succession plan including periodical review of process documentation, promoting a crosstraining plan that allows worklife balance and business continuity.
  • Proactively takes opportunities to improve knowledge, business acumen, soft and technical skills and is constantly working on ways to cascade this knowledge to his team members.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum 6 years related work experience as Accountant with proven experience in accounting cycle.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • High School Diploma and/or bachelor's degree preferred with Accounting/Finance concentration desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), particularly IFRS 1
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team of individuals.
  • Ability to lead change across the organisation and within the GFS, both on systems and processes.
  • Highly motivated, selfstarter who manages projects endtoend and has a demonstrated track record of getting results, organizing, and prioritizing deadlines.
  • Experience of working in fast paced, results driven role within complex organization.
  • Ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands, demonstrating accuracy, attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience of working in a multinational / global organization.
  • Senior stakeholder exposure.
  • Experienced in handling sensitive issues/ situations and cultural differences.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Proven previous job stability, including maintaining longterm work relationships with former employers.
  • Must be able to clear the company's preemployment screening.

Desirable Skills/ Experience

  • Implementation or understanding of SOX regulatory compliance.
  • Six Sigma training.
