BIOMERICS JUL 2023 – Current. OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE LEAD: Accountable for the performance of the OpEx team.
Key responsibilities:
-Guide the Operational Excellence team: Engineers, technicians and interns (10 members) to become the organization’s partner responsible for creating innovation and transforming people and processes by focusing on people and lean principles as foundation values.
-Work with multidisciplinary teams to implement Systems-Processes-Tools to help the organization perform in a better manner and achieve corporate goals.
*Continuous improvement: Drive the margin expansion program through the implementation of cost improvement projects.
*Process support: Facilitate kaizens and problem solving to improve the metrics of the site.
*Lean transformation: Implement lean methodologies (e.g. visual factory, daily management, 5s, quick response among others), to improve the operations performance.
*Lean trainings: Educate the site personnel in lean basics. (white belt, yellow belt, green belt)

- Continuous improvement:
- Standard time taking: 100% standard times taken for the site. +20 production lines
- Capacity analysis: Creation of Capacity Master Tools for the site and 100% implementation throughout the production lines (including VSP, WCG, Capacity tools)
- CIP program: Implementation of the ideas program generating potential savings for 2025. (Goal 6MM)
- Lean transformation:
- Daily management tier structure: 100% implementation of a 5-level tier structure with core metrics for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
- 5s program: Establishment of a 5s structure including 5s audits for the control stage.
- Process mapping (VSM): 70% of processes are mapped using the VSM lean tool.
- Standard work: 15% of processes with Standard work in place to standardize methodology of operators.
- People/Culture:
- OpEx champions Program: Training of a team of product builders that work closely with the OpEx team to look for muda using 8FoW analysis.

BIOMERICS AUG 2022 – JUN 2023. NPI SR BEX ENGINEER: Assure production installation and continuity to achieve maturity for J&Js Decanav´s Production Line.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define capacity requirements to face future demand, including personnel and stations (Line balance): adapting the line layout and managing the space to overcome future capacity.
- Serve as PM to guarantee the facilities of the building are adequate to be used for the new product and monitor the installation of the production line from Mexico to Costa Rica.
- Define and implement control tools to achieve production: KPIs definition, Visual factory tools, WIP, Kanban.
- Train personnel in lean six sigma tools.
Accomplishments:
- Defined the line requirements and installed the production stations and ensured they were optimal for production.
- Defined the core metrics of the production line (SQDC) and implemented control tools to facilitate visibility to management.
- Created the Training Department for Biomerics Alajuela, including all phases of the Knowledge Transfer and Training Framework: Gap assessment analysis, Strategy creation and execution to have an established and institutionalized training department at the site.
BOSTON SCIENTIFIC. SEPT 2021 –JUL 2022. PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR: Control a production line to achieve a result that supports the requirements of the Organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the core team to oversee the production line and correct direction if required.
- Supervision and support of team including monitoring progress toward departmental goals in metrics such as (Labor variance, Absorption variance).
- Participate and lead problem solving processes, whether due to increasing trends on complaints, defects, scrap, or low productivity, among others.
- Planning and maintaining a viable plan incorporating hiring, training, capacity-modelling, efficiency/yield assumptions, ramp-rate, learning curve etc. based on production requirements.
Accomplishments:
- Two problems solving executed at the line using the A3 methodology related to Nonconformities (mix of materials and waviness).
BOSTON SCIENTIFIC. MAR 2017–AUG 2021. INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER: Support the advancement of lean and continuous improvement by identifying and implementing innovative solutions that eliminate waste and optimize value for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Introduce the lean culture across the site.
- Lead VIPs in production and support areas.
- Generate systems and tools that help drive the organization to better performance.
- Responsible for facilitating lean training courses, LBP courses, kaizens, and large scope projects in multiple production units.
- Support the use of lean tools such as VSP, WCG, Capacity Master tools,
- Support production during the S&OP process. Capacity analisis, HC balance, stations, and space management of the lines.
Accomplishments:
- Standard times, Production requirements, capacity analisis, and space management lead for the Cardiovascular and PI production unit. (5 production lines)
- Lead the implementation of production tools to support the operations department for the site of Boston Scientific Heredia.
- Problem solving and process improvement SME for the Cardio and Wires PI production Unit, provided support in the execution of problem solving for five production lines.
- Lean essentials and Lean business processes certified trainer for the site.
- Execution of one large scope project: Super stiff line moves from Building A to Building C. +1000 sqt ft.
- Lead the implementation of Value Improvement projects in labor, material and WIP management. The execution of the projects includes topics such as Heijunka, 5s, visual factory, among others.
- Execution of continuous Lean business processes, providing support to finance and Human resources (KPI definition and improvement of the metrics).

BANCO NACIONAL DE COSTA RICA. MAR 2016 -FEB 2017 PROCESS IMPROVEMENT ENGINEER: Support the Operative Direction by identifying and implementing innovative solutions that eliminate waste and optimize value for customers.

1. Define, track, and improve the KPIs of the Operative Direction of the Bank.
2. Process mapping using BPMN to identify Improvement opportunities.
3. Work with stakeholders to execute continuous improvement projects at the institution.
Accomplishments:
1. Define financial KPIs for Operative Direction (Consisting of 8 departments working together)
2. Successfully mapped the key processes of the Direction.
3. Implemented 3 continuous improvement projects in 3 different departments of the direction, with savings of 20.000 each.
